Topic: car accidents
Venue: W007
Time: 1115
Topic: car accidents
In the
beginning Salem introduced himself to the class, and he showed what he would
talk about in a nice simple way.
His
topic was the car accidents.
First
he described what the car accident is, then he explained the main causes of car
accidents; he added nice pictures and clipart to make the subject clearer.
There
wasn’t a lot of writing in the PowerPoint and this is good.
After
that Salem talked about the car accidents in the UAE, and he presented
information about the accidents in the UAE.
In the
end he presented the solutions and he discussed the solutions with us, and I
think he displayed good points.
Both body language and eye contact were
excellent.
Overall:
the presentation was nice and interesting.
New
things I learnt:
More
than 50% of the total deaths of citizens in the UAE are cased by the group of 18-35 years
old people.

Salem completed the rest of the slides perfectly and showed us a video which was a part of a
movie related to their object.
What (new) did I learn? I learned new information about Muslim
inventors such as their name, nationality and inventions.
Slides: the color
was good and appropriate with the pictures. Also slides were orderly with the sequence of events.
Body language: it was perfect. They
used their hands to show the pictures and to explain for us the inventions.
Also, they changed their position.
Eye contact: it was great. Their eyes were contacted with
us. They saw all of the class and they moved their eyes.
Fielding questions: they covered all the questions nicely
and they showed us the video to support their information.
Overall impression: I
like their presentation because it increases my knowledge about Muslim inventors
and their inventions. Also, I learned some presentation skills from them.

Date: Wednesday 14th March
Present:
Yousef, H00234805, Chairman
Khaled, H00207564 , Secretary
Ameer Salem, H0023533, Participant
Yousef opened the meeting with a nice welcome to Hedley and
talked about the agenda of solutions for the problem. He arranged the meeting
class neatly one by one. The
problem under discussion is students who live far away from college.
The first solution is to build another branch outside Abu
Dhabi. Ameer: it’s an important and useful point like Zayed
University and ADWC. Hedley didn’t agree because ADMC has space to expand.
Recommendations:
1.
Change the time to start
the classes after the peak time.
2.
Collages provide transport
(buses) for students.
3.
Increase number of online
courses.
4.
Build dorm for students who
want to stay in the campus.
5.
Let students organize the
time for their classes.
In my opinion I think the best solution is let students
organize the time for their classes. It helps
students to come to college at a better time for them. Also, they can choose
the time of classes after peak time to avoid traffic jams. In this case the college
is not responsible if students are late. The second solution is increase number
of online courses. It will decrease the number of classes students have to take
at college.

Meeting Activity
Problem: students live far away from college (ADMC)
Date and time of meeting: March 14, 2012 at 11:00 am
Venue: W007
Group members:
·Chair: Yousef
·Minute taker: Khalid
·Participant: Ameer
Venue preparation:
v Grouping of chairs round
table.
Agenda:
1) Build another branch outside Abu
Dhabi
2) Change the
time to start the classes after the peak time.
3) Give students
who live far from ADMC more time for being late.
4) College
provides transport (buses).
5) Increase
number of online courses.
Build
another branch outside Abu Dhabi
Ameer said it’s important and useful like Zayed University and ADWC. They built another branch outside Abu Dhabi in Khalifa City.
Hedley thought that ADMC has space to expand and this solution will be in the future.
Yousef said this solution gives more chance to accept more students in the new branch outside Abu Dhabi.
Change the time to start the classes after
the peak time.
All Government departments and companies start at 8:00 am at the same time as the college.
Ameer said I leave my home at 7:00 am to reach the college at 8:00 am because I face heavy traffic on the way to the college. Also, sometimes there are accidents which impede traffic that make the student late.
Hedley agreed with this idea.
Give students who
live far from ADMC more time for being late.
Hedley said I am not strict with the late in the morning classes. Ameer said I had an accident 3 days ago and I was half an hour late for the math class. Then I showed my teacher the paper for the accident but he marked me late.
College provides
transport (buses).
Yousef said as you know all students have cars and make traffic jams. So the college should provide transport for the students. Hedley said do you think students will leave their cars and come by bus. Yousef said if I always come late I will come by bus, because the college will be responsible.
Increase
number of online courses.
Khaled said this is the important point in the problem. Increase number of online courses to help students to do some homework at home.
Hedley suggested the college could teach a part of this course online such as submit reflections and reports online because we are in HCT.
